About South Rim Partners

I was born on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where my parents lived while my Dad was training to become a national park ranger. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to return to Grand Canyon several times. It is always a humbling and awe-inspiring experience. On one visit, I took a long hike with a friend along the Rim Trail. While hiking on the rim of the Grand Canyon, you have to pay attention to all of the small stuff so that you don’t slip on a rock or trip on a tree root. The small stuff matters a lot. At the same time, you are walking on the edge of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. If you get overly focused on the small stuff, you’ll miss the big picture: a horizon like no other in the world. Across my career, I’ve been told many times that I have a unique balance of being able to stay on top of details while keeping the big picture in sight. The skill set that enables that balance has served me well. It’s what I have to offer organizations and individuals as we work together as partners on the “South Rim” of their organizations, teams, and schools.
